Electronic cigarette liquid is the special fluid used in electronic cigarettes. It is not possible to vape without e-liquid. Eliquids are offered in many different flavors and nicotine levels (you can choose your own nicotine level).

Three main ingredients of an eliquid:

Nicotine There are liquids with zero nicotine, but there are also liquids with nicotine. Those with nicotine come in various nicotine levels.

Flavor/Aroma Aroma gives eliquid taste. Nicotine is taste-neutral, so flavors are added. The result is an experience that can taste and feel like a real cigarette, whiskey, waffles or even cactus fruit.

Diluents Eliquids are diluted with propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerin (VG) for two reasons: to change the relative strengths of nicotine and flavoring and to deliver nicotine and flavors through the vapor. PG and VG also play a role in changing e-liquid strength, also in determining vapor output.

PG is propylene glycol. It is used to dilute eliquids and is taste-neutral. Liquids with more PG hit the throat harder. VG is vegetable glycerin, another diluent used to make liquid. High VG vapor is thicker and sweeter. PG and VG are classified as generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The throat hit is when the vapor reaches your throat on the way down. It can be light, medium or strong. Also used as throat kick, there are four main variables that determine the power of a throat kick. Three of the biggest factors are nicotine, PG/VG and the general quality of the liquid. To a lesser extent, physical hardware also has a part in determining the power of a throat hit.

If you've just started vaping, we would recommend trying different nicotine levels. If you smoke more than a pack every day (20 cigarettes), starting with zero/low nicotine will probably not help. By the same token, if you smoke only a few cigarettes a day (4-5 cigarettes), zero nicotine could turn out to be good. You can also mix liquids with different nicotine levels. Example: If you mix 9mg and 18mg liquid 50/50, you would get a liquid with 13.5mg.
